Bulgaria reports drop in exports in January – April 2016
Bulgaria’s exports in January to April 2016 were three per cent lower than in the same period of 2015, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on June 9 2016, citing preliminary figures.
In the period January – April 2016 the value of all exported goods from Bulgaria amounted to 14 226.1 million leva, the NSI said.
In April 2016, Bulgaria’s total exports – meaning to both EU and non-EU countries – added up to 3633 million leva, 6.9 per cent less than the same month of the previous year.
The total value of all the goods imported in the country in the period January – April 2016 amounted to 15 504.4 million leva (at CIF prices), or eight per cent less than the corresponding period of 2015.
In April 2016, Bulgaria’s total imports decreased by 11.3 per cent compared to the same month of the previous year and added up to 4012.6 million leva.
The total foreign trade balance (exports FOB – import CIF) was negative in the period January – April 2016 and amounted to 1 278.3 million leva.
