Nato to station four battalions in Poland and Baltic States
Four multinational NATO battalions will be stationed in Poland and the Baltic States, Defence Minister Antoni Macierewicz said after meeting Nato Secretary -General Jens Stoltenberg on Tuesday.
“Our talks confirmed that four battalion combat teams will be stationed in Poland and the Baltic States on a rotating basis as part of the permanent NATO’s presence in the east,” Macierewicz said.
Stoltenberg came to Poland ahead of a NATO summit to be held in Warsaw July 8-9.
“It will take place at a critical moment for our alliance. A moment where our security and our values face significant challenges. Challenges both from the east and from the south,” Stoltenberg said of the upcoming summit.
