Rockslide buries two UK tourists at Bulgaria’s Krushuna Waterfalls

A rockslide buried two British tourists under about 200 cubic metres of earth near Krushuna Waterfalls in northern Bulgaria on November 6. As rescue workers sought to dig them out, their condition was unknown, authorities said.

The alert about the incident was given by a Bulgarian friend of the tourists who also was hit by the rockslide but managed to escape, according to the Interior Ministry office in the town of Lovech. She was admitted to hospital in Lovech and was not in critical condition.

Fire and rescue teams arrived at the scene soon after the emergency call came in some time after noon on November 6.

The landslide happened on a trail that ascends to a series of waterfalls.
