What’s on: Sofia Independent Film Festival 2015

Sofia Independent Film Festival returns for its sixth edition on October 22 and will feature a by now familiar mixture of documentary and feature films from the international film festivals circuit.

Some of the big names on this year’s slate include critically-acclaimed documentaries The Wolfpack (winner of the grand jury prize for documentaries at Sundance earlier this year) and He Named me Malala (the story of Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai), as well as Slow West (featuring Michael Fassbender and another Sundance grand jury prize winner) and The Lobster (Palme d’Or nominee at Cannes 2015).

As last year, the festival will screen a feature film shot in Bulgaria – Septembers of Shiraz will wrap up the festival on November 1 – a thriller with Adrien Brody and Salma Hayek that premiered last month at the Toronto International Film Festival.

A total of 23 films will be shown over 11 days in three venues across the city; for a full programme of the festival, visit the Sofia Independent Film Festival website (tickets are sold at individual venues).
