What’s On: Tales of Hoffman opera at the National Palace of Culture, June 19

The Rousse State Opera will be taking part in the Salon des Arts with a performance of Jacques Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffman at the National Palace of Culture, NDK, in Sofia on June 19 at 7pm.

Tales of Hoffman premiered at the Opera Comique in Paris in February 1881. It is based on three stories by German Romantic fantasy-horror author ETA Hoffman, who appears – in reinterpreted form as Ernst Theodor Amadeus – as the protagonist in the opera, in part the story of a contest between ordinary love and that of Hoffman’s muse of poetry.
