European Commission: Hot-spots in Greece will be ready in two weeks
The European Commission estimates that in two weeks at most the refugee registration centres (hot spots) in Greece will be operational, EC spokesperson Mina Andreeva said.
Andreeva said that European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker spoke on the telephone with Austrian Chancellor Werner Faymann who visited Greece yesterday, and proposed that additional manpower and experts to assist Frontex efforts are sent.
Furthermore, the Commission representative Margaritis Schinas said that apart from the capacity of Frontex, the Commission has sent experts to Greece to assist local authorities in the process of refugee registration, both on the islands and in Athens.
