Bulgaria releases state reserves to aid refugees
Bulgaria’s Cabinet has agreed to donate state reserves and wartime stocks to the Interior Ministry and State Agency for Refugees to aid refugees in the country.
The decision, taken at a regular meeting of the Cabinet on October 7, provides for the donation of a water cisterns, utensils, camp beds, non-sterile gauze compresses and bandages, among other items.
The government media service said that these would help to ensure the appropriate conditions to accommodate refugees on the territory of Bulgaria.
The government said that in the past two years, Bulgaria had received a large number, by the scale of the country, of people seeking international protection.
This had heightened the responsibilities of the Migration Directorate andBorder Police Directorate at the Ministry of Interior and the State Agency for Refugees in the management and operation of the existing accommodation for illegal migrants and asylum seekers, the statement said.
