Bulgaria boosts police at Black Sea resorts ahead of peak summer season

Bulgaria has seconded police from elsewhere in the country to Black Sea beach resorts including Sunny Beach and Golden Sands ahead of the 2015 peak summer holiday season, while police from foreign countries including the Czech Republic and Romania will again assist their Bulgarian colleagues.

Additional police have been sent to the departments in Primorsko and Nessebur, which serves the Sunny Beach resort.

In all, 442 police have been deployed to the region, including 124 to Primorsko, 88 to Sozopol, 38 to Tsarevo and 32 to Pomorie.

With 43 police seconded to Nessebur, there will be 160 police on duty in the resort town this summer, including specialists in dealing with various offences, including petty theft, robbery, drug dealing and pimping.

Romanian and Czech police officers will assist this summer season at the regional Interior Ministry offices in Nessebur and Primorsko, Bulgarian National Television reported. They will assist in, among other duties, joint patrols with Bulgarian officers, the report said.
