What’s On: Judas Priest to make Sofia return on June 30
British heavy metal legends Judas Priest will return to Sofia as part of their world tour promoting new album Redeemer of Souls, playing at the Arena Armeec on June 30, organisers Sofia Music Enterprises have said.
Judas Priest’s 17th studio album marks the end of the band’s brief retirement following the Epitaph World Tour, which included a stop in Sofia in July 2011. The band also played at Sofia’s Akademik stadium in 2004, as part of the Reunited Summer Tour when Rob Halford returned to Judas Priest after more than a decade’s absence.
The gig in Sofia is the only one in south-eastern Europe on the band’s summer slate, with Judas Priest expected to play a mix of their all-time classics and songs from Redeemer of Souls, which has received mostly positive reviews from critics.
It will be also the first opportunity for fans in Sofia to see the band’s new line-up, with guitarist Richie Faulkner replacing founding member K.K. Downing, who left Judas Priest in favour of retirement in 2011. Tickets for the gig are on sale at ticketpro.bg, ranging between 40 leva and 100 leva.
