Poland angered by German new law on minimum wage for transit truck drivers

German Chancellor Angela Merkel promised to take steps in order to arrange a meeting between Polish and German labour and transport ministers to discuss Germany’s planned law changes that could hurt Polish transport companies, Merkel promised in a telephone conversation with Polish PM Ewa Kopacz.

Under new German legislation, foreign truck drivers must be paid the German minimum wage for any hours they spend driving across Germany.
