Schools in Bulgaria’s Bourgas closed for a week after flu epidemic declared
An influenza epidemic has been declared in Bulgaria’s Black Sea city of Bourgas, the public broadcaster said on January 19.
Because of the flu epidemic, schools in the city will be closed from 3pm on January 19 until January 23.
At hospitals, planned operations have been cancelled, as have visits and routine consultations for pregnant women.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the regional headquarters for fighting flu and acute respiratory diseases, attended by the head of the regional health inspectorate and representatives of the regional health insurance fund, regional inspectorate of education and of hospitals.
