EU annual inflation 0.5% in October 2014 – Eurostat

European Union annual inflation was 0.5 per cent in October 2014, up from 0.4 per cent in September, EU statistics office Eurostat said on November 14.

A year earlier, the EU annual inflation rate was 0.9 per cent.

Euro zone annual inflation was 0.4 per cent in October 2014, up from 0.3 per cent in September, while in October 2013, the rate was 0.7 per cent.

In October 2014, negative annual rates were observed in Greece (-1.8 per cent), Bulgaria (-1.5 per cent), Hungary and Poland (both -0.3 per cent) and Spain (-0.2 per cent).

The highest annual rates were recorded in Romania (1.8 per cent), Austria (1.4 per cent) and Finland (1.2 per cent).

Compared with September 2014, annual inflation fell in eight EU countries, remained stable in three and rose in 16, Eurostat said.
