What’s On: annual ‘Sofia Breathes’ festival in August

The fifth consecutive annual Sofia Breathes festival is being held in five streets in the Bulgarian capital city on the five Sundays in August 2014.

Customarily, Sofia is near-deserted in August as residents head to the seaside and cultural life is becalmed, with many galleries, concert halls and theatres taking a breather.

In 2010, Sofia Breathes was launched, first in Shishman Street in the centre of the capital, with the street closed to motor traffic and with young artists and performers brightening the day with events.
