German police bust Bulgarian gang trafficking women for prostitution

Police in Bremen and Lower Saxony Stuhr arrested six people alleged to be members of a Bulgarian gang bringing women to Germany to force them into prostitution, Radio Bremen reported.

The report said that police had conducted a major crackdown on October 18 2012 on people trafficking and prostitution.

Ten buildings were searched in the course of the operation, in which 200 police officers were deployed. Several thousand euro were confiscated in the raids.

The operation followed months of investigations inBremenand inBulgaria.

Police said that they would give further details only next week because investigations were ongoing, the report said.
