Shooting reported at New York’s Empire State Building
Several people have been wounded and one killed in a shooting incident outside New York City’s Empire State Building, in which the apparent shooter was killed by police.
The Associated Press quoted a city fire department spokesman as saying that paramedics were evaluating eight people in connection with the incident, but that some of them may not have been shot.
A witness told Fox 5 television that a woman next to her was shot in the hip and that the gunman was “shooting indiscriminately at people.”
A CNN producer at the scene quoted witnesses as saying that a man had taken out a large gun and shot another in the head.
The network reported that an Empire State building guard chased the armed man and was joined by police, who shot and killed the suspect.
CNN and the Reuters news agency quoted a law enforcement source as saying the incident was not terrorism-related.
