Amcham to host conference on Bulgarian perspective on Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership
The American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria (AmCham) is hosting a one-day conference on October 24 on the Bulgarian perspective on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is the name of a trade agreement that is going to be negotiated between the European Union and the United States.
The negotiations are to be aimed at removing trade barriers, such as tariffs, unnecessary regulations, restrictions on investment, in a wide range of economic sectors as to make it easier to buy and sell goods and services between the EU and the US.
The EU and U.S. also want to make it easier for their companies to invest in each other’s economy.
The conference will discuss proper governance in key areas of the global and Bulgaria’s economy in the light of Transatlantic commerce, AmCham said.
Scheduled speakers at the conference, being held at the Sheraton Hotel Sofia, include Bulgaria’s President Rossen Plevneliev, Daniela Bobeva, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Development, Joseph Quinlan, Managing Director and Chief Market Strategist, U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management; Susan Danger, Executive Director of AmCham EU and Hendrik Bourgeois, President of AmCham to the European Union and Vice-president of General Electric Corporation.
