Bulgaria’s central bank: Loans for house purchases at end of March 2026 up 27.5% y/y
At the end of March 2026, loans for house purchases added up to 17.616 billion euro, an increase of 27.5 per cent on an annual basis, national central bank Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said in a regular report.
This followed 27.8 per cent annual growth in February 2026, BNB said.
Loans to households and NPISHs (Non-profit institutions serving households) added up to 29.866 billion euro at the end of March 2026.
This was an increase of 20.8 per cent compared with March 2025, and followed 20.7 per cent annual growth in February 2026.
Consumer loans amounted to 11.260 billion euro. Compared with March 2025 they rose by 13.2 per cent, after 12.8 per cent annual growth in February 2026.
In March 2026, loans to non-financial corporations increased by 11.8 per cent annually (9.4 per cent annual growth in February 2026) and at the end of the month amounted to 28.279 billion euro.
Loans granted to financial corporations were 4.892 billion euro at the end of March 2026. Compared with March 2025, that was an increase of 10.8 per cent (11 per cent annual growth in February 2026).
