Bulgaria’s retail trade turnover in February 2026 up 7.3% y/y

Bulgaria’s retail trade turnover in February 2026 was 7.3 per cent higher than in February 2025, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said on April 7, citing data that are preliminary and seasonally-adjusted.

The NSI said that in February this year, turnover in retail sales of non-food products (excluding fuel) was 10.5 per cent up compared with February 2025.

Retails sales of food, beverages and tobacco rose by 5.3 per cent and retail sales of automotive fuel in specialised stores rose by 0.4 per cent.

Major growth was recorded in retail sales via mail order houses or via the internet, by 23.7 per cent, retail sales of textiles, clothing and footwear and leather goods, by 17.1 per cent.

Compared with February 2025, turnover in retail sales of computers, peripheral units and software and telecommunications equipment was up by 16.9 per cent, while retail sales of audio and video equipment; hardware, paints and glass; electrical household appliances rose by 13.9 per cent, the NSI said.
