Bulgaria’s supreme court overturns Sofia city council decision to double parking fees, expand paid parking zones
Bulgaria’s Supreme Administrative Court has overturned a November 2025 decision by Sofia city council to double fees in paid parking zones and to expand paid parking zones in the capital city.
The supreme court decision on March 24 upholds earlier rejection by the Sofia City Administrative Court of the city council decision.
The supreme court accepted the lower court’s decision that were the changes implemented, they would result in significant damage.
The city council decision had envisaged the changes coming into effect on January 5 2026, but they were suspended as the decision was contested in court.
The Supreme Administrative Court decision is final and not subject to appeal.
