Eurostat: 22.5% of Bulgarians use generative AI tools

In 2025, about 22.5 per cent of people in Bulgaria aged 16 to 74 used generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools, European Union statistics agency Eurostat said on December 16.

This is third-lowest in the EU, after Romania (17.8 per cent) and Italy (19.9 per cent), according to Eurostat.

In 2025, 32.7 per cent of people aged 16-74 in the EU used generative AI tools.

Most people used them for personal purposes (25.1 per cent), while 15.1 per cent used them for work and 9.4 per cent for formal education.

Among EU countries, the use of generative AI tools was most widespread in Denmark (48.4 per cent), Estonia (46.6 per cent) and Malta (46.5 per cent).
