Bulgaria utilities regulator raises gas prices by 5.1% for March
Bulgaria’s utilities regulator has approved a 5.1 per cent increase in the regulated gas price in the country for the month of March, setting the new price at 87.58 leva a MWh, excluding transportation costs, excise and value-added tax.
The price hike was the eighth in as many months. Usually, the regulator gives a reason for price movements in either direction – frequently, that is linked to the reference price on the TTF gas hub in the Netherlands, which serves as the main European price benchmark – but it did not do so this time.
Domestic demand for March will be covered by gas received under the long-term contract with Azerbaijan, two liquefied natural gas (LNG) deliveries, and amounts drawn from the Chiren gas storage facility, the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) said.
