Bulgaria issues weather warnings for heavy rain forecast for May 22
Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of hazardous weather for several districts for May 22 because of forecast heavy rain.
The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Montana, Vratsa, Lovech, Gabrovo and Veliko Turnovo.
Several districts are subject to the lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially hazardous weather, also because of forecast heavy rain: Sofia district (as distinct from Sofia city), Vidin, Razgrad, Rousse, Turgovishte, Shoumen, Sliven, Stara Zagora, Haskovo, Kurdzhali and Blagoevgrad.
Across Bulgaria, maximum temperatures on May 22 will be between 20° and 25° Celsius, in Sofia – around 20°.
In the mountains, it will be significantly cloudy and there will be short-term rain with thunder and hail. Moderate to strong winds will blow from the north-northeast. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 metres will be about 13°, at 2000 metres – about 7°.
Along the Black Sea coast, the cloudiness will be significant and in many places there will be precipitation, in some areas with thunderstorms.
Later in the day, the rain will stop. There will be a weak and moderate northeast wind. Maximum temperatures will be between 19° and 22°.
