Bulgarian railways offers retro train trips on March 1
Bulgarian state railways BDZ is offering excursions from Sofia to Bankya and back on retro railcar train No. 19 001.7 on March 1 to celebrate the day that Bulgarian traditionally exchange martenitsi talismans with wishes for good health and the coming spring.
Railcar train No. 19 001.7 was built in 1960 for the use of the Bulgarian communist regime’s leaders of the time.

The thematically decorated train will make two trips on March 1.
The first one will start at 9.50am from Sofia Central Railway Station, arriving in Bankya at 10.15am. The return trip will start at 11.40am, with scheduled arrival in Sofia at 12.05pm.
The second trip will start at 1pm from Sofia, arriving in Bankya at 1.25pm. The return trip is at 2.25pm from Bankya Station, arriving in Sofia at 2.50pm.
Tickets are round-trip, with reserved seating included, and may be purchased from ticket offices and railway offices at all stations in the country, as well as online at https://bileti.bdz.bg/ .
Tickets for adults cost 22 euro (43.03 leva), and for children up to 10 years old ,11 euro (21.51 leva). Quantities are limited, BDZ said.
