Bulgaria issues weather warnings for February 15 over forecast heavy rain

Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for five districts, and the lesser Code Yellow warning for several others, for February 15 because of forecast heavy rain.

The Code Orange warning has been issued for the districts of Smolyan, Kurdzhali and Haskovo because of forecast strong wind and rain and for the districts of Kyustendil and Blagoevgrad because of forecast rain.

All other districts are subject to the Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather, with the exception of Sofia city, Sofia district, Pernik, Plovdiv, Pazardzhik, Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven and Lovech, which are classified Code Green, meaning that no weather warning is in place.

On February 15, minimum temperatures will be between 5° and 10° Celsius, in Sofia, about 5°.

Maximum temperatures will be between 12° and 17°, and in Sofia, about 13°.

In the mountains, there will be short-term intense cloudbursts, with thunderstorms in places.

In the Rila-Rhodope massif and Western Stara Planina above about 2000 metres, it will snow.

Maximum temperature at an altitude of 1200 metres will be about 6°, at 2000 metres, about 1°.

On the Black Sea coast, cloudy weather will prevail with short-term intense rain showers, mainly in the afternoon, with thunderstorms in places. Maximum temperatures will be 12°-17°.
