Bulgaria utilities regulator raises gas prices by 3.7% for February
Bulgaria’s utilities regulator has approved a 3.7 per cent increase in the regulated gas price in the country for the month of February, setting the new price at 32.3 euro a MWh, excluding transportation costs, excise and value-added tax.
The Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) noted that the increase for “the majority of household consumers” will be even lower at two per cent.
EWRC said that it rejected the request by state-owned company Bulgargaz to include quantities of gas acquired under bilateral agreements, because it would have led to “market distortions” owing to the “mixing the regulated and free market segments.”
Despite the price increase compared to January, the regulator said that the February 2026 price was about 25 per cent lower than in the same month of last year, when EWRC approved a price of 43.12 euro a MWh.
