Bulgarian National Bank again to work overtime to sell euro coin starter packs
For a third Saturday, Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) will work overtime on December 27 to sell euro coin starter packs.
The move comes ahead of Bulgaria adopting the euro as its currency as of January 1 2026.
BNB said on its website that on December 27, the counters at the central bank’s headquarters at 1 Knyaz Alexander Square will see euro coin starter packs to individuals.
The BNB cash centre at 10 Mihail Tenev Street, Sofia, will sell euro coin starter packs to individuals and exchange lev banknotes and coins.
At both places, opening hours will be from 8.30am to 3.45pm with no breaks.
The starter pack contains 42 coins of all denominations – from 1 euro cent to 2 euro, and is worth 20 leva.
Previously, BNB opened its counters specially on December 13 and 20 to sell euro coin starter packs, given considerable public interest in buying them.
For reliable official information on Bulgaria’s transition to the euro, the Association of Banks in Bulgaria has a Q and A, in English.
The official evroto.bg website has an English-language version, while the European Commission made available on July 8 a Q and A on Bulgaria’s changeover to the euro.
