Bulgaria issues weather warnings for March 13 for forecast strong winds
Bulgaria’s national meteorological bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of dangerous weather for several districts for March 13 because of forecast strong winds.
The districts subject to the Code Orange warning are Kurdzhali, Haskovo, Yambol, Montana, Vratsa, Lovech, Gabrovo, Veliko Turnovo, Turgovishte, Shoumen, Dobrich, Silistra and Sofia district (as distinct from Sofia city).
With two exceptions, all of Bulgaria’s other districts are subject to the lesser Code Yellow warning of potentially dangerous weather, also because of forecast strong winds.
The districts of Blagoevgrad and Pleven are classified Code Green for March 13, meaning that no weather warning is in place.
The meteorological bureau said that overnight on March 12, rain will begin from the south-west, which will reach the eastern regions in the morning.
There will be short-term heavy rainfall in the mountains. Only on the highest peaks of Rila and Pirin will the rain turn into snow.
The minimum temperatures will be between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius, in Bulgaria’s capital city Sofia about 11 degrees. Maximum temperatures will be mainly between 20 and 25 deg C, in Sofia about 21 degrees.
