New passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in January 2025 down 30.1% y/y
There were 2780 new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in January 2025, an decrease of 30.1 per cent compared with January 2024, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, ACEA, said on February 25.
Of the new passenger car registrations in Bulgaria in January 2025, a total of 2228 were petrol cars, 294 diesel, 142 battery-electric, 78 hybrid-electric and 36 plug-in hybrid.
ACEA said that in January 2025, new EU car registrations declined by 2.6 per cent. Notably, the bloc’s major markets saw declines, with France (-6.2 per cent), Italy (-5.8 per cent), and Germany (-2.8 per cent). Spain conversely recorded a 5.3 per cent increase.
In the EU in January, battery electric vehicles (BEVs) made up 15 per cent of the market share, up from the low baseline of comparison of 10.9 per cent in January 2024.
Hybrid-electric vehicles surged ahead, commanding nearly 34.9 per cent of the market and becoming again the first most preferred choice among EU car buyers.
Meanwhile, the combined market share of petrol and diesel cars in the EU fell to 39.4 per cent in January 2025, down from 48.7 per cent one year ago, ACEA said.
