Volume of retail trade in Bulgaria in December 2024 up 7.8% y/y
The volume of retail trade in Bulgaria in December 2024 was 7.8 per cent higher than in December 2023, European Union statistics agency Eurostat said on February 6.
It was 0.5 per cent higher than in November 2024, Eurostat said.
In December 2024, compared with December 2023, the calendar adjusted retail sales index increased by 1.9 per cent in the euro area and by two per cent in the EU.
The annual average level of retail trade volume for the year 2024, compared with 2023, increased by one per cent in the euro area and by 1.3 per cent in the EU.
In the EU, in December 2024, compared with December 2023 the volume of retail trade increased for food, drinks, tobacco by 0.4 per cent, increased for non-food products (except automotive fuel) by 3.4 per cent, and increased for automotive fuel in specialised stores by 0.7 per cent.
Among EU member states for which data are available, the highest annual increases in the total retail trade volume were recorded in Slovakia (10 per cent), Lithuania (8.7 per cent) and Luxembourg (8.4 per cent).
Decreases were observed in Slovenia (-3.1 per cent), Belgium (-2.4 per cent) and Poland (-0.5 per cent), Eurostat said.
