Duo Gennaro Cardaropoli and Alberto Ferro concert at Sofia City Art Gallery on October 5

A concert by the Duo Gennaro Cardaropoli (violin) and Alberto Ferro (piano) will be held at Sofia City Art Gallery on October 5 at 7.30pm, as part of the Cameralia Festival, the Italian Cultural Institute Sofia said.

Entrance to the concert is free.

Born in Salerno in 1997, at only nine years old Cardaropoli performed in front of Pope Benedict XVI, with live broadcast by RAI.

He studied at the Conservatory of Music in Avellino, graduating with full marks and honours. Later, he specialized with Maestro Vadim Brodsky, Salvatore Accardo, Boris Belkin, Zakhar Bron and Shlomo Mintz. He graduated from the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland with Maestro Pavel Berman and is currently studying with Maestro Silvia Marcovici.

Cardaropoli is the winner of numerous prizes.

He has as a soloist for the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, the Fenice in Venice and many other musical institutions in Italy. Abroad he has played at the Monte Carlo Opera, in Leon and Madrid, in Stockholm, at the Musikverein in Vienna, in Vilnius, in Belfast, in Toulouse and in the United States.

His discographic debut with Warner Classics was in 2019, together with pianist Alberto Ferro.

Ferro, born in Italy in 1996, achieved his Master’s degree (2018) under the guidance of Prof. Epifanio Comis, at the Vincenzo Bellini State Conservatory of Music in Catania.

He also attended several piano masterclasses held by very important pianists such as Leslie Howard, Joaquin Achucarro, Boris Berezovsky and Vladimir Ashkenazy. Ferro is the recipient of numerous prizes.

He has performed many concerts throughout Europe and elsewhere.

Many of his recordings by him were broadcast by radio and television broadcasters in Italy and abroad.

Claude Debussy: Sonata for violin and piano L. 140 in G minor

Igor Stravinsky: Suite Italienne for violin and piano
