Bulgaria issues weather warnings over forecast heavy rains

Bulgaria’s national weather bureau has issued the Code Orange warning of hazardous weather for six districts for July 25 because of forecast heavy rainfall.

The six districts are Veliko Turnovo, Rousse, Turgovishte, Shoumen, Silistra and Razgrad.

With the exception of six districts classified as Code Green, meaning no weather warning is in place, all other districts are subject to the Code Yellow warning of potentially hazardous weather for Friday, because of forecast heavy rainfall.

The six districts that are classified Code Green are Sofia city (as distinct from Sofia district), Kyustendil, Pernik, Vratsa, Montana and Vidin.

The weather bureau said on July 24 that over the next 24 hours, rain clouds would develop as a cold atmospheric front passes through the country.

There would be short-lived, in places intense, showers of rain, thunderstorms and hail.

Maximum temperatures would be lower than they have been recently, ranging from 27 to 32 degrees Celsius.

There would be short-term, in places intense, rain and thunder showers in Bulgaria’s Black Sea region and hail was possible. The sea water temperature was 28 to 29 degrees Celsius, the weather bureau said.
