Bulgaria’s long weekend weather: Cold and rainy, snow in the mountains

Bulgaria’s three-day weekend from March 3 to 5 is set to see cold weather with rain forecast in most of the country, turning to snow at higher altitude.

The country celebrates its national holiday, Liberation Day, on March 3.

In Sofia, the weather forecast is heavy clouds with short rainshowers throughout the long weekend. Temperatures are expected to reach daily highs of 7-10C, and lows of 1-2C.

On Friday, most of the country is expected to see light rain, with daily highs ranging between five and 10 degrees Celsius.

Saturday and Sunday, the cloud cover is expected to decrease slightly, although rain remains a distinct possibility in many parts of Bulgaria, while daily highs will range from eight to 14 degrees Celsius.

After the weekend, the weather forecast is expected to improve, with partially sunny skies, while temperatures are set to rise, peaking at 15-20C on March 8.
