Rail strike in Greece, taxi drivers strike in protest against Uber, on March 6

Train services in Greece were disrupted on March 6 as rail workers went on a 24-hour strike, while in Athens, taxi drivers went on strike from 8am to 5pm in protest against competition from ride-sharing service Uber.

Bulgaria’s Foreign Ministry issued a statement advising travellers that the rail strike meant changes to and cancellation of services on the suburban railway lines in Athens, Thessaloniki and Patras.

The metro rail services to and from the international airport in Athens also were suspended during the rail strike, the Foreign Ministry said.
