Bulgaria: ‘Code Yellow’ potentially dangerous weather warning for 10 districts for February 26
The “Code Yellow” warning for potentially hazardous weather warning has been issued for 10 districts in eastern Bulgaria for February 26 2018 because of forecast strong winds.
The districts are Bourgas, Dobrich, Razgrad, Rousse, Shoumen, Silistra, Sliven, Turgovishte, Varna and Yambol.
The warnings were issued as temperatures were expected to plummet across the country, with late-February winter conditions setting in.
The Road Infrastructure Agency had already warned of potentially dangerous winter conditions, and urged motorists to drive with caution.
For February 25, the weather forecast for Sofia was for snow, with an expected low of minus three degrees Celsius, rising to a maximum minus one. Plovdiv was forecast to see one degrees, rising to three degrees, with rain. At the coast, Varna was expecting a low of minus two degrees, rising to zero, with rain.
For February 26, the forecast was for Sofia to have a low of minus seven degrees, with snow, with a maximum of minus five degrees C. Plovdiv was forecast to see minus two, rising to zero, with snow, and Varna, minus five, rising to zero degrees Celsius, with snow.
