Bulgaria warns of delays as Romania tightens border controls

People crossing at border checkpoints with Romania should expect delays after Bucharest ordered tightened border controls, Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry said on November 20.

“Yesterday at noon Romania introduced 100 per cent control of people and vehicles crossing border checkpoints,” the Interior Ministry said, adding that all travellers would be registered in Romania’s information system.

It was expected that because of the thorough processing of documents, transiting border checkpoints would be slower, the ministry said.
