Bulgaria postpones Junior Eurovision opening ceremony out of sympathy for victims of Paris terrorism attack

The opening ceremony for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015, which was to have been held on the evening of November 15, has been postponed as an expression of sympathy for the victims of the tragedy in Paris and the three days of mourning in France, host broadcaster Bulgarian National Television and the European Broadcasting Union said.

“Bulgarian National Television expresses its deep sympathy and support at this difficult moment for the French people. The love among people and tolerance are values on which the Eurovision Song Contest is found. These are the values that unite all the public broadcasters in Europe,” Bulgarian National Television Director-General Vyara Ankova said.

“The draw to determine the starting order but will be drawn on Sunday to allow production staff to resume normal work on the preparation of the show. This will occur separately from the opening ceremony,” Vladislav Yakovlev, executive supervisor of Junior Eurovision said.

The draw will be shown on Bulgarian National Television on November 15. Host broadcaster BNT will show the final of Junior Eurovision 2015 on November 21 at 8.30pm.
