Bulgarian public broadcaster holds ‘Voices for Humanity’ telethon in aid of refugees
Public broadcaster Bulgarian National Television hosted on September 23 a special broadcast on the theme “Voices of Humanity” in aid of the growing number of people seeking asylum in Europe.
The broadcast, shown live and featuring a number of Bulgarian popular music stars, encouraged viewers to back the campaign by the Red Cross and Red Crescent, “Protect humanity, Stop Indifference” with the hashtag #Protect Humanity.
By completing an online petition, the campaign intends to attract a wide international support and to appeal to countries in Europe and their governments to take concrete steps to ensure the welfare of migrants, respect for human rights and free access to procedures international protection and basic medical care.
Anyone can support the campaign by donating in order to provide humanitarian assistance for refugees seeking asylum.
