Bulgarian police seize 15M leva fake branded goods at Black Sea resorts

Bulgarian police have seized merchanise and products worth about 15 million leva (about 7.65 million euro) illegally bearing famous-name trademarks in resorts in the Black Sea regions of Varna and Bourgas, the Interior Ministry said on July 5.

The operation was carried out between June 29 and July 3, with police checking 16 sites, including warehouses and shops in Bourgas, Varna, Primorsko and the resorts of Sunny Beach, Golden Sands and Saints Konstantin and Elena, the ministry said.

Authorities confiscated 21 851 sunglasses, 13 800 sports caps, 2414 headphones, 324 bags, 21 sports backpacks and textiles with inscriptions including Dior, Adidas, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Nike, Ray Ban and Prada.

The ministry said that 15 pre-trial proceedings under the Penal Code had been initiated. Investigations were continuing, the Interior Ministry said.
