Bulgarian railways begins advance sales of summer 2015 train tickets to Varna and Bourgas

Bulgarian state railways BDZ is beginning advance sales of train tickets for the summer season to the Black Sea cities of Varna and Bourgas.

As of June 1 2015, tickets can be bought up to 20 days in advance. The system will remain in effect until September 30, BDZ said.

The usual period for advance sales is five days.

Advance sales of tickets and reservations of seats are available at all railway stations and agencies in the country, BDZ said.

Passengers wanting to travel in a sleeping car or couchette may book places up to 30 days before departure. This is in effect throughout the year.

Online ticket sales are available for some trains. Payment may be done through most credit and debit cards. The ticket is e-mailed to the customer and may then be printed out.

Tickets may be purchased using tablets and smarphones. In this case, the ticket need not be printed out but would be validated by the conductor on the train directly from the mobile device.

Details of online ticket purchases may be found online at www.bdz.bg and via http://bdz.transportinfo.bg.
