What’s On: One Design Week, in Plovdiv from June 19 to 28

International festival of design and visual culture One Design Week returns to Plovdiv from June 19 to 28 2015.

One Design Week features a professional forum with prominent speakers from all over the world, as well as an extensive programme of open events aimed at the broader audience – exhibitions, workshops, discussions, talks, screenings, parties, book launches and events for children.

The list of speakers at One Design Week includes Konstantin Grcic, Matali Crasset, Michael Marriott, Mark Chalmers, Erik Kessels, Ji Lee, Marti Guixe, Stefan Sagmeister, Genevieve Gauckler, David Carlson Peter Bilak, Tomek Rygalik, David Carson, Jaime Hayon and Javier Mariscal, among others, organisers Edno said.

According to the organisers, the exhibitions at One Design Week 2015 feature a varied list of themes, techniques, and participants, “selected in such a way so as to unite the audience and get it inspired about the issues of contemporary design (graphic, exhibit, videogame, product, social, political, textile, poster, print, technological, food design, etc.), giving people the chance to see the world tendencies in the field in a new, fresh light”.

The exhibitions will be set up in various locations around Plovdiv, including the Kapana area of the city, such as places situated on the city’s Main Street, art galleries and cafés, the Ancient Bath, Cosmos Cinema, the Union of Plovdiv Artists.

Exhibitions on the programme of the festival include the main exhibition of One Design Week 2015 – “Being Post-Digital”, curated by Rene Beekman; “Variations of 3D Printing”; “Design in a Package Judge by the Cover”; “Acmé Paris in Posters”; “Favourite City”; “Street Art Forever”, “Process Reframed”, “Interior Accessories of Feminine Gender”, “Bygone Bonbons In Childhood Memories”, “The Line Which Tells the Story”, “Кarlsson & Wilker In Posters”; Graduation Projects: Raya Stefanova’s “Living Soil”, “Art Food” by the students of Interior Design at School of Form – Poland; Young Balkan Designers 2015: “Common Ground”; “Touch, Sit, Drink”, “A Journey through the History and Future of Jewellery”, Vitto Valentinov’s “Balance”; “Mark and Verse” by Compote Collective; “Play with It” – an interactive product design by Jordi Canudas, as well as exhibits created as the results of the competitions and workshops during One Design Week 2015.
