Pilot strike cancels 14 Lufthansa flights to and from Sofia
A total of 14 direct flights to and from Sofia have been cancelled as a result of the strike by the German pilots union, Lufthansa Group said.
The industrial action by Vereinigung Cockpit, planned for December 1-2, has prompted Lufthansa to cancel the flights, the airline said. The strike affected all Lufthansa short-haul and continental flights departing between noon CET (1pm Sofia time) on December 1 to midnight CET on December 2 (1am on December 3, Sofia time) and for all intercontinental flights departing between 3am CET on December 1 to midnight CET on December 2.
The airline cancelled three flights to Sofia from Frankfurt and Munich, as well as the return flights, on December 1. Two earlier flights – one from Frankfurt and one from Munich – were serviced as scheduled.
On December 2, four flights – two from Frankfurt and two from Munich – and the corresponding return flights have been cancelled.
Flights of the Lufthansa Group airlines Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Germanwings, Swiss and Air Dolomiti were excepted from the strike and schedule adjustments.
