Cyprus: Three ministers quit coalition party, central bank chief resigns

Three ministers of the Cyprus government resigned from Democratic Party (DIKO) on March 10. The central bank governor resigned the same day.

Central Bank Governor Panicos Demetriades departed after two years in office because of an investigation launched into his dealings with a consultancy firm. His resignation was accepted by President Nicos Anastasiades.

Defence Minister Fotis Fotiou, Education Minister Kyriacos Kenevezos and Health Minister Petros Petrides said that they had suspended their active membership ofin the Centrist Democratic (DIKO) party over differences with the leadership.
