Flu epidemics declared in Bulgarian cities of Rousse and Pleven
Influenza epidemics were declared in the Bulgarian cities of Rousse and Pleven on January 24 2014, with a similar declaration expected in Stara Zagora as of January 27.
This follows flu epidemic declarations in Sofia region and the city of Sofia, the latter for a week as of January 23.
However, in Rousse and Pleven, schools will remain open, as has been the case in the city of Sofia.
In Stara Zagora, schools are also expected to remain open, according to regional health authorities.
A flu epidemic declaration in the Black Sea city of Bourgas expired on January 21.
In the cities and regions where an influenza epidemic has been declared, scheduled operations in hospitals have been postponed and routine examinations of children and pregnant women suspended.
