Bulgarian ski resorts prepare for 2013/14 winter season opening

Pamporovo will be the first of Bulgaria’s winter resorts to open its ski season for 2013, on December 7.

Bansko and Borovets follow on December 14 while Vitosha starts its ski season on December 15.

The prices of lift tickets in Pamporovo, Bansko and Borovets will remain unchanged for the 2013/2014 winter ski season.

Vitosha has reduced its prices this season. The price of a half-day card has been cut from 26 to 22 leva. A full-day card will be 35 leva while the night fare will be the same as the half-day price.

Local media reports said that resorts were expecting a good season, after strong growth in visitor numbers in the 2012/13 winter season. However, it appeared that there could be a downturn in visitors from Russia, given the Winter Olympics being held in the Russian city of Sochi in February.
