German rockers Scorpions to play in Sofia on December 16

German rock band Scorpions will return to Sofia with a concert at the Arena Armeec on December 16, more than three years after making a stop in the city during their swansong Get Your Sting and Blackout world tour.

Despite the intention to stop touring, announced in 2010, Scorpions have continued to play gigs, albeit not as extensively as in past decades. The band is currently about to embark on a month-long tour of Eastern Europe, with 13 concerts in seven countries, mainly from the former Soviet Union, where the band remains popular thanks to their Wind of Change single, which for many had become the anthem of the sweeping regime change in the region during the late 1980s.

After a break, the band will play in Bucharest on December 14 before travelling to Sofia – the concert is yet to be confirmed officially on the band’s website, but tickets have gone on sale in Sofia on October 16, ranging from 65 leva in the standing areas to 100 leva in the fan pit.
