German tourist in coma after falling from balcony in Bulgarian hotel
A 22-year-old German tourist was in coma after falling four storeys from the balcony of his hotel room in Bulgaria’s popular Black Sea summer resort of Sunny Beach.
The tourist had been taken to hospital early in the morning on June 26, news agency Focus reported. The man had spent the night out with two friends, booked in the same room, who reportedly were asleep when the incident happened.
The German tourist was taken to a hospital in Bourgas and was in the intensive care unit, having suffered multiple injuries. His life remained in danger, the report said.
Earlier this month, a 19-year-old tourist from the UK died after falling 10 storeys from the balcony of his hotel room in Sunny Beach. There were a number of reports of such falls from hotel balconies at Sunny Beach and other resorts in 2012, with at least one fatality, and falls from balconies also were reported in previous years.
Such incidents have become so frequent in Bulgaria that the British embassy has specifically warned Britons, as part of its annual Holiday Hangover information and prevention campaign, to exercise caution when spending time on the balcony of their room.
