Bulgaria’s consular office in Moscow issues record number of visas

A total of 7623 visas were issued by the Bulgarian consular office in Moscow in just one day, the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said on May 28 2013.

This was a record for the number of visas issued since the introduction of a visa system between Bulgaria and the Russian Federation, the ministry said.

Up to now, Bulgaria’s consular office in Moscow has reported a 29 per cent increase in visas issued compared to the same period of 2012, and 161 per cent more than in 2009.

Extended hours for consular service have been introduced and all applications are processed promptly and accurately. Acceptance of visa applications from visa center starts at 8am, and the visa sticker is completed by 10.30pm, the Foreign Ministry said.

On May 28, Bulgaria’s consular office in Moscow also issued the 100 000th visa. The recipient was a Russian national travelling to Bulgaria for tourism.
