Poland paves way for LOT Polish airlines privatisation

The Polish government adopted a bill repealing the law on the national airline PLL LOT, thus taking the first step to open door for the privatisation of the carrier, the Treasury Ministry said on its website.

“The bill . . . enables the state to sell a majority stake in the national carrier, but does not mean an automatic loss of control of the State Treasury over the company,” the statement reads. “After the act is revoked, future ownership decisions will still be subject to limitations from, for instance, the EU law.”
