Dave the Hero! Hungary’s Jobbik applauds EU referendum plan in UK
British Prime Minister David Cameron may unwittingly have become a poster boy for Europe’s extreme right after promising a referendum on EU membership if his Conservative Party is re-elected. Hungary’s crypto-fascist Jobbik party reacted the following day with “joy” at Cameron’s pledge to British voters.
“Cameron’s declaration proves that he is not only a brave politician but one who is obliged to represent the will and interests of the people,” Jobbik deputy parliamentary group leader Márton Gyöngyösi said in a statement emailed to this newspaper on Thursday.
