Third of arrests at Bulgarian border in 2012 were of Syrians

Just more than a third of the people arrested at the Bulgarian border from the beginning of January 1 2012 to date were citizens of Syria, according to statistics released on December 12 2012 by the Border Police.

A total of 561 were Syrians, 276 Palestinians, 235 from Iraq, 94 of Turkish origin and 86 were Algerians.

Ninety-nine per cent of all illegal immigrants were arrested at the Bulgarian – Turkish border.
